INDORE: Continuing its crackdown against illegal construction, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Wednesday demolished an under-construction structure being developed upon 65,000 square feet land without seeking approval for map from the civic body.
“Following instruction of IMC commissioner Harshika Singh, a removal drive was carried out near Palda to demolish a structure being developed for commercial purpose. It was a big building being constructed on around 65,000 square feet area without approval of map from IMC,” deputy commissioner Lata Agrawal said.
A notice was already served to owner of the building to present required documents, including the approved map, but he failed to do so and when asked to remove the illegal structure on his own, he didn’t respond to the order, she added.
“Earth movers and labourers were roped in for demolition of the illegal structure. So, the owner would be served a notice for recovery of the amount spent on demolishing the building,” the deputy commissioner said.
IMC commissioner has alsop instructed the officials concerned to prepare a list of dilapidated structures and issue notice to owners to remove the same in a week. In case of government-owned buildings lying in ramshackle condition, the head of department will be approached for the same action.
